I am incredibly glad you stumbled across my slice of the digital universe. Like many tech enthusiasts, I have a deep-seated love for the machines that shaped our modern world—specifically the wonderfully weird, beige, and loud computers of the late 20th century.

This site tracks my personal journey into the world of retro computer hardware restoration. It is part workshop log, part hardware diary, and part celebration of tech history. Feel free to browse through the ongoing build logs, check out the before-and-after transformations, and share your own memories of these legendary machines.

Retro…. The Official Rule of Thumb

In a bid to try and avoid a comment war on the definition of retro, it helps to understand the difference between the three big industry terms:

  • Retro: A modern reproduction or imitation of the past, OR authentic goods that are 15 to 20+ years old. In the context of tech and gaming, it generally means anything from a previous tech generation that is now completely obsolete (e.g., standard-definition consoles or computers using floppy disks).
  • Vintage: An item that is genuinely authentic to its era and is between 20 and 99 years old. An original, working 1982 Commodore 64 is vintage computer hardware.
  • Antique: An item that is physically 100 years old or older. In the year 2026, an old mechanical calculating machine from 1926 or earlier officially crosses the threshold into an antique
